CLI interface on AIX

I am trying to build a custom database driver on IBM AIX 4.3 based on Informix CLI (NOT esql/c) that utilizes Informix's shared libraries. The problem is that my application terminates abnormally in the database connect. I have tried to use the demo programs that are located in /usr/informix/demo/cli but they do not work properly either. The only thing that does seem to work is to compile a demo program (transact) and link it using the static libraries. If I link using the shared libraries, I get the same behavior as with my application. Here is a call stack of my abnormally terminated application: (I am using Informix SDK V2.40.UC1-2). Incidentally, I can compile and run the same code on Windows NT with no problem at all. Make sure that the $INFORMIXDIR/lib/cli and $INFORMIXDIR/lib directories are in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. What does ldd report? If there are unresolved libraries or libraries being picked up from an older $INFORMIXDIR tree then this is the problem. Also be careful NOT to set LD_RUN_PATH since it will set the search path at compile time and you will not be able to install the iConnect (or other runtime) in a different location on the clients.
