Hi All, What are the differences between IDS Runtime & IDS Development? How can I determine the type of IDS (Run / Dev)? I don't have License Info. cards. How can I find out the License S/N for I4GL Runtime? Thanks, Nick.
Hi! If you have r4gl in $INFORMIXDIR/bin - you have Development license. If you only have fglgo it is Runtime. Login as root, change directory to where informix is installed and in etc subdirectory display contents of .snfile (dot snfile). It contains list of installed products. Thanks, Michael.
My $INFORMIXDIR/etc/.snfile :
INFORMIX-4GL, Runtime Facility Serial Number AAC#J999999
INFORMIX-SQL, Runtime Facility Serial Number AAC#J999999
Informix Dynamic Server Serial Number AAC#J999999
Still, this doesn't tell the type of my IDS (Run/Dev?)!
Should I assume that the order of these lines corresponds to the order of
installation?
In my $INFORMIXDIR/bin I don't have r4gl or fglgo. I think, both of these
are for RDS not for 4GL.
I have following entries in $INFORMIXDIR/bin :
QA_cockpit ism_chk.pl nsrexec oncheck ontape
ansrd ism_clone nsrexecd oncockpit onunload
archecker ism_config nsrim ondatartr recover
cdr ism_op nsrindexasm ondblog rofferr
chkenv ism_rm nsrindexd onedcu sacego
convloc ism_show nsrinfo onedpu save
cron_autovop ism_shutdown nsrlic oninit savefs
crtcmap ism_startup nsrlmc onkeymgr savegrp
dbaccess ism_watch nsrlog onload scanner
dbaccessdemo7 isqlrf nsrls onlog sgidsh
dbexport mkdbsdir nsrmm onmode snmpdm
dbimport mminfo nsrmmd onmonitor snmpdp
dbload mmlocate nsrmmdbasm onparams sperform
dbschema mmpool nsrmmdbd onperf
start_autovop
finderr mmrecov nsrtrap onpload
start_oncatlgr
glfiles msgfile onarchive onprobe stop_autovop
infenv nsradmin onaudit onshowaudit
stop_oncatlgr
infxmsg nsrcap onautovop onsnmp uasm
ipload nsrck onbar onspaces xtrace
ism_add nsrclone onbar_d onsrvapd xtree
ism_catalog nsrd oncatlgr onstat
So, again
What are the differences between IDS Runtime & IDS Development?
How can I determine the type of IDS (Run / Dev)? I don't have License Info.
cards.
Regards,
Nick.

AFAIK there is now no difference in content or price - there is now only one product. However to be sure ring Informix with your serial numbers and check. Certainly the stuff on the CD for dev & rt has been the same for some time. Don't know what r4gl is. fglgo is the RDS runner which will be present whatever kind of rds you have - fglpc is the RDS compiller. I suspect r4gl is to do with compiled 4gl, a different product. > >Login as root, change directory to where informix is installed and >in etc subdirectory display contents of .snfile >(dot snfile).
