FW: Fixed length fields

If you are using V5 of informix you can use the syntax:
select col1 || col2 || col3
from ....
This will produce a fixed length record output (I have only tried it using a
few different datatypes, not all of them). You do not have any control over
the size of the fields, this is determined by the length of the datatype.
I have also not checked out what happens for negative numbers (my guess is
that this will ruin your output file format)
