John said he was contemplating moving from SE to OnLine. He won't get the 6.0 manual until he buys the product. Hpwever, as a basic guide to the activities of the OnLine DBA the following things are necessary:- 1. Configuration. 2. Managing the disk space 3. Managing the allocation of shared memory to gain better performance. 4. Managing the Archive procedure and monitoring log usage to guarantee recovery. 5. Regular Monitoring of performance and taking evasive action before the emergnecy occurs. If any more help is needed I would recommend waiting for Joue Lumbley's book due out in November - the INFORMIX DBA Survival Guide Malcolm Weallans OnLine Database Consultancy
