query the data in Informix very slow

I use Informix 3.31 ODBC driver. When I query the data from the database, it nearly spends me more than 5 minutes. The returned number of records should be zero. And the table contains about 20,000 records. I use VB and ADODC. Hi Patrick , We had a similar problem using a 4GL application. I would suggest as the others have to see if you get the same problem through a dbaccess session and check out the set explain on output. We finally dropped and re-created the index on one of the tables which we joined on.It solved our problem.
