Hi group, I've stumbled upon an ancient Altos i386 UNIX system with a database in Informix-SQL 2.10.00 installed. The owner would like to transfer the database data (three tables with some 15,000 rows) to a Windows machine (ie., Access). Question: how do I export the data from the database to, say, a CSV file? I've read the Informix FAQ and saw something about the UNLOAD SQL command. Will this work? Thanks for help! Hi! Unload will give you a file delimited by pipe symbol (vertical bar |). You should be able to read this as text into access. You can also use tr to replace | by TAB and you have tab delimited which most windows programs can read. Great! I'll look into it. If your data doesn't contain either pipe or tab characters, tr will work. If you want CSV, you can try setting DBDELIMITER="," but that does not put quotes around strings. There is also a chance that DBDELIMITER is newer than this version of ISQL (2.10.00 on Altos for those without the original article).. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
