Infx712-PwrBldr50-Opnlnk-Text in table

We're a software developer evaluating how Power Builder 5.0 might be utilized for some of our quick and dirty installation and implementation utilities at customer sites. There were some tricks our C++ programmers had to perform to update "Text in table" datatypes via Openlink ODBC ... but now we're faced with the same problem with Power Builder ... doesn't look promising. We use the Text in table columns for 200-600 character notes that the users will be keying into the PB user interface. The only special characters we need are the LF (or CR LF) for normal editing. It would be nice to have tabs but it is not necessary if it is a big problem. I know someone (probably thousands!!!) out there have faced this same problem. My problem is we don't know how to do it! Help please ... We will also have a need to store image blobs (jpeg, tif, etc.) in the near future. Any comments there would also be appreciated.
