temp dbspaces do not cleanup

I am using on-line 7.22uc2 on sparc soalris 2.5.1. I have 9 temp dbspaces all of one chunk on 9 disks. I did a select into temp tabname and it crashed because of space but on-line won't give me my space back. Each temp space is 100,000 and I am getting only 71,141 free even after I bounced the engine. BTW, it is flagged as "T" on an "onstat -d" and I get no errors in my online.log. I try to drop the temp dbspaces but it won't let me saing it has information on them. Any ideas anyone?
