table and column constraints

Hi, I am using an Informix database. From what I understand there is a limit on the length of the table and column names, it is set to 18 characters. Is there a way to change this setting or is it hard-coded by Informix. The database I am trying to load has many table and column names that are longer than 18 Characters. Any and all information is welcome. Thanks, Danny
I think it is hard-coded by Informix! Daniel McDowell <dmcdowe1@san.rr.com> wrote in message news:i44r4.5536$Ob5.20338@typhoon1.san.rr.com... > Hi, > I am using an Informix database. You must be moving from oracle? We ran into this situation and have been advised that 9.3 IDS will support to 128 character column and table names. I actually saw an informix marketing blurb that said it would be available in 9.2 but I don't believe it was available. Good Luck.
