error 458: Long transaction aborted

Hello
Does anybody know what is wrong with INFORMIX-Universal Server 9.12 for
UNIX.
If I do a query like this
INSET INTO tab_2(oid_1, oid_2)
SELECT a1.oid_1, a2.oid_2
FROM tab_1 t1, tab_1 t2
WHERE t1.oid_1 <> t2.oid_1 AND
t1.incom < 6000;
I get always an error 458: Long Transaction aborted.
The tabe tab_1 has only 2048 rows, so it could be a maximum of 2 mil.
rows in tab_2.
I did the statement, but seperated into smaler peaces and I received
150000 rows in tab_2.
I already toled my database administrator and he increases the physical
and logical log space, but it didn't help.
Does anybody know what to do?
Thank you very much.

Increase logs even more or break the transaction up, either
as you have or using an application that does the inserts
in partial transactions such as my dbcopy utility which is
part of the package utils2_ak available from the IIUG
Software Repository.
