Informix HDR and ER

Dear All, I am in the process of setting up Informix HDR on IDS 11. I need your inputs and assistance. Can you please give me the steps to configure HDR. Also would like to know whether the main requirement for HDR is two servers with identical configuration or can we setup HDR in two instances on same server. Also is it possible to run both HDR and ER on the same instance. I have setup ER on same instance and found it much easier to monitor. Appreciate your help. Regards, Lloyd
Hi, Here is a nice HOWTO: http://howtoforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=89 Generally, the way to setup HDR it is the same for IDS 11 (this howto is for an older version), but IDS 11 allows some more modes. I don't see a sense in working with HDR on same server, so what is your use case ???? HDR is mainly build to have a failover server which is running "warm", maybe at a different location. Refer to this IDS 11 HA Redbook, it has answers to most of your questions. http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/SG247488.html?Open Regards, -Nilesh. ids-bounces@iiug.org wrote on 03/10/2008 08:30:50 AM: > Dear All, > > I am in the process of setting up Informix HDR on IDS 11. 1. For HDR, the two systems and instances must be the same, since the entire instance is bieng copied from one machine to anothe. 2. HDR and ER can be run from the same machine, but not TO the same machine, sincde the secondary is read-only.
