I am really confused.
This implies that the engine is Standard Engine as apposed
to online. However when you set up the client the protocol
is onsoctcp which implies online.
The onsoctcp is on ( online ) soc ( sockets ) tcp ( tcp ).
The AIX protocol is setlitcp - where se = standard engine.
What version of informix are you using ????
If online then from the command line try
"onstat -c | grep -i dbserve"
This should return something like
DBSERVERNAME bbibrs01_se
But I must now presume that you are not using online since
the database has an "se" in the name???
If all else fails try and not use the protocol onsoctcp and
try some of the corresponding standard engine ones.

Do you really have a Unix user called "xx" :-))))
