Hmmmmmmm. I've thought about this one too. See below . . . > -----Original Message----- > From: Joe Lumbley [SMTP:jlumbley@netcom11.netcom.com] > Sent: Tuesday, July 11, 2000 4:51 PM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Off-Topic: Informix Stock > > > Folks, > > I know I'm probably going to get a lot of feedback on this, but I'd like > to have a reality check here before I go and blow a lot of money. I believe that the technology is sound and that the products are (at least) just as good as anything else on the market. I haven't played with IDS2000 yet, so I'm looking forward to play with some of the newer toys out there. > Informix just closed at 4 1/4 today. I've been watching the IFMX message board on > Yahoo, and it's all a bunch of cheerleaders with axes to grind. > Chauvinist? I've been called a bigot because I'm not willing to embrace change (change over to the other major database player). But that's a totally different thread. I too have considered buying Informix stock. I still think that IFMX has promise as a company and I'm not totally willing to write them off yet. From the technology side, IFMX has outstanding products and good tech support. In the long term, I believe they'll be around. My only questions have to do with upper management (where are we going?) and marketing (who are we??). Besides, I've gotten my wife's opinion as well. (She has some kinds of business / fiscal sense.) She's wondering why I haven't bought yet. Besides, one can't accuse her of a technical bias. other than what she's heard from me . . . . . 8-) Another place to research would be the Fools message board for IFMX. Interesting article and interesting board. Here's where I started: http://www.fool.com/news/2000/ifmx000703.htm > You Informix employees be careful on this thread. IFMX is suing > to get the names of some of the posters on Yahoo (If you believe anything > that's said on the Yahoo board), so you probably shouldn't even respond to > this > thread. > Another lawsuit? I don't believe that I've heard anything about this one. Care to enlighten me? John Carlson Informix DBA WHSmith USA /* These are my own ramblings, not those of my company.
