Morning All, now I really feel like a newbie, but I just discovered a copy of 7.31.UC4-1 which got delivered but no-one told me about. currently we run 7.20.UD7 dev tools (4gl, isql etc) on 7.24.UC6 engine. Now we have the engine for 7.31 and would like to upgrade our copy. Does anyone know if the dev tools will still be able to talk to this engine? Add to that any oddities I should know about? brett
Get ESQL/C from the SDK 2.3x or 2.4x package for ESQL and get you can use either the 7.2x or 7.3x ISQL and 4GL with that. Art S. One "oddity" that took us a while to get sorted out is that you need to set the environment variable "LRUAGE=1" when bringing up the engine. If you don't do this, B-tree pages will end up crowding Data pages out of your buffers, and performance will be abysmal. I understand that this is fixed in 7.31.UC7. Another "oddity" is that creating a table in the sysmaster database at checkpoint time (even a temp table) could cause the engine to hang. The only way to cure this is to reboot the server. More to the point, you will not be able to use such database monitoring tools as BMC's PATROL, as it does "group by" and "order by" as it queries sysmaster. This is fixed in 7.31.UC6. These are the only two "oddities" that immediately come to mind, as we have had direct experience with them. Joe Vidrine Garden Ridge, Inc.
