(hopefully again at just media costs since I've paid for >maintenance) Is this so? Unfortunately, if past experience is any guide, it makes little difference what someone at Informix tells you "officially", since the next person you talk to a day/week/month later will deny that this is so and feed you a new "official" whopper. Take carefully detailed notes -- you'll need them. >>>If any of these decision-makers had to *use* their products, that >>>policy would change fast, because it is *VERY FRUSTRATING*, and left >>>me with an abiding distaste for the company (and an abiding sympathy >>>for the tech support people who really wanted to help). This says it about as well as it can be said. Informix has *alot* of former customers out there who will not now touch them with a barge-pole. And their hard-won reputation for basic policy indifference to the interests of the customer will *not* magically vanish upon the playing of a new lullabye by whoever (or whatever) is driving their marketing bus during *this* partic- ular moon phase. The only folks I encountered there who truly tried hard to make things right were the heroes in tech support. For them: three cheers -- and thanks, in spite of the misery. -- ________________________________________________________________ bud@mtek.com ... uunet!m2xenix!mtek!bud ... bud@rigel.cs.pdx.edu
