Informix 5.0 and HP-UX client

Dear Informix community, I would like to ask if anybody has experience of making a client program into HP-UX (ver. 9.05), which read data from Informix data base. Informix On-line version is 5.0 and it is running on a SUN Spark station with a Solaris OS. One person said that it is not possible to make a UNIX to UNIX client/server system based on the Informix ver. 5.0. Is that true?
