I am running Informix Version 11.50.FC3 against Solaris version 10 for the last 4 years with no changes and just last week received the following error. 17:27:51 On-Line Mode 17:27:53 SCHAPI: Started dbScheduler thread. 17:27:54 Booting Language <spl> from module <> 17:27:54 Loading Module <SPLNULL> 17:27:54 SCHAPI: Started 2 dbWorker threads. 17:27:54 SCHAPI: Error -272 No SELECT permission. 17:27:54 SCHAPI: Type: SENSOR, Name: Save SQL Trace, Location: NULL. 17:27:54 SCHAPI: Type: SENSOR, Name: Save SQL Trace, Error Message: Unable to execute function [ sql_showsnap(integer,integer) ] . 17:30:00 SCHAPI: Error -272 No SELECT permission. 17:30:00 SCHAPI: Type: SENSOR, Name: Save SQL Trace, Location: NULL. 17:30:00 SCHAPI: Type: SENSOR, Name: Save SQL Trace, Error Message: Unable to execute function [ sql_showsnap(integer,integer) ] . During online research I found the suggested solution to this issue is to run the following statement against the sysmaster database and I wanted some input as to whether or not this will resolve my problem. "grant select to public on syssqltrace_info table"
Hello Kathy. If you want any of your users (with database connect permissions, of course) to read SQL trace data, there´s no problem. If you have one or two specific users (eg: generating some kind of trace reports), it could be better to grant only specific access. Regards. I guess more importantly, I'm am trying to determine why this error is occuring and what steps I need to take to fix the problem.
You must run this as user informix as it select data from the sysmaster:syssqltrace* tables which only allow informix to select from them. (The only other solution would be to grant access to all the syssqltrace* tables to the user you are running the procedure as.) John F.
