The .snfile isn't really useful in this instance because it just
contains a history of serial numbers installed, and it's owned by root.
To see what is currently installed try:
cat $INFORMIXDIR/etc/*-cr
If it's just the engine you are after, then the quickest way is:
dbaccess -V
