Monitoring database at work

Hello,
Does anybody know of a comprehensive tool or utility that enables us to
monitor several aspects of a running Informix database. We know about
the capabilities of onstat, but that tool is not very convenient for
close to novice users. Especially we want to get insight in the tables
that have locked rows, which processes/users hold the locks. Any advise
or tip is apreciated.
Thanks,
Henk
Have you looked at ISM? It comes with current versions of the engine,
or you can download it for free from www/intraware.com/informix.

Before you buy.
Hi Henk,
The problems you´ve described could not be easy resolved with isa, because
the output is the same as in onstat.
We have a tool (ISR-perform Monitoring Option) where you can drill through
the informix-data. Navigate through problem-areas like locks,- which user
held the lock,- on which table, -who is waiting for it , etc. With this
navigation you can get your information most quickly and more detailled than
it´s possible with the on-tools.
Maybe it should usable for you to know detailled things about the
Performance-Aspects.
Here´re some examples:
-Shared Memory: Cache, Segmente, Usage by user with detailled source
informations
-Disks: DBSpaces (free space, usage etc ) , Chunks, tables (space, profiles
etc), etc
-Locks, Logs, expensive sessions (with detailled resource-informations used
by the session)
-etc
Sure this tool is not for free, but really usefull for troubleshooting. You
can get quickly information of bottlenecks and critical performance issues
on a running Informix Database.
If your´re interessted in, please let me know. I can send you some more
informations.
Greeting,
Erik Stahlhut
