Well, there are two bugs which apparently can lead to npused being negative, one fixed in 5.02, and one fixed in 5.06. However, you must rebuild your table in order to repair any npused which is already negative. UPDATE STATISTICS gets npused from your tblspace tblspace, and that cannot be fixed by fixing the bug; the only way to fix your tblspace tblspace is to rebuild your table. There is a workaround (a stored procedure to calculate the correct value of npused and update your systables AFTER you run UPDATE STATS), if you cannot rebuild your table.
