Serial Field with Replication

Hi all , Does anyboby have experience with serial field with a Primary Target Replication ? Does it really work? I have been tested it with no problem even the Tech Manual adivise to not use serial field with replication . Thank's! The problem is that if update anywhere is used, it is possible for two inserts done at the same time on the two nodes to generate the same value for the serial column.
