NUMAIOVPS on 8.2x or 8.3
All, (especially Art) I know that this parameter should be set to (2 * number of disks or 6, whichever is greater) but; I have ~6000 dbspaces on about 320 DASD devices totalling about 2TB. Now, here's the question, how much memory does Informix allocate for each VP?, and what IYHO should NUMAIOVPS be set to? BTW....my developers have decided not to use KAIO(for reasons unspecified). This is on 4 AIX Silver nodes at 4.32 running Informix 8.21x.......... any thoughts? -brian

That's what it was set to to start with.........all it caused was contention.... I set it to 48.......more contention......now at 36 all is seeming better. This isn't in line with the rules......I do believe Informix should test this out before giving guidelines on acceptable performance techniques. I'll never believe that they built a 2TB machine and tested it........but, then again, I used to work there........and I loved it.....
