dbexport on AIX

I am a solaris/oracle guy, but I need to export the contents of an
informix DB that lives on an AIX box. The contents of the database are
all .jpg or .gif files that I need to move to a linux box.
As the informix user (with appropriate ENV vars set)
dbexport Photos -o /tmp/export
results in:
-329 - Database not found or no system permission
-111 - ISAM error: no record found
I am thinking that I need to put this database in single use mode, but
since I suspect ( don't know how to confirm ) that it is pre v10,
onmode -j doesn't work, and I can't seem to get it into the right modeusing any onmode switches - either connections aren't allowed, or i get
the 329/111 error.
Any thoughts on this? Also - if there might be a different way to
extract the images from the database, I would be willing to try...
TIA - gh

Humm, can you do "dbaccess" and then see what databases are in the
Informix instance?
onstat -V will show you the version of the engineonstat - will show you the "state" of the engine "On-Line", "Quiescent"
etc. etc.
From the error
"-329 - Database not found or no system permission"
followed by
"-111 - ISAM error: no record found"
that suggests that there is no database called "Photos".
