The output of "rpm -qi ids":
Name : ids Relocations: /opt/informix
Version : 7.30.UC7

Yes, I can connect from the machine to all related node.
Actually, I installed two ethernet card, treat it as firewall machine.

As I know that Redhat 6.0 already include ipchains in kernel.
I am not sure if it cause the problem. Mybe some one can share expercience
with me.

The configuration was set up by "onmonitor". The network connections is
"soctcp".
I also added it into file "/etc/services". The file onconfig is attached as

Hello: I just downloaded "IDS v7.30 uc10.1 for linux2.0.36 glibc2.0.7" from "Intraware.com". after unzip, I got two rpm files under dir "..../ids730uc101_linux": ids730uc10.rpm connect210uc3.rpm I am not sure which one I should to install. I guess I may need them both but want to listen to any experienced IDS user for any advise. My goal is to set up a IDS so that I and my group can exercise to create/drop database instances/tables. (our group supports a software which just upgraded to IDS from I-sam...) Jack@GTEDS@Tampa cwang9@yahoo.com j.wang@telops.gte.com Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

(our group supports a software > which just upgraded to IDS from I-sam...) The basic database system is in the IDS RPM file. The I-Connect software is the runtime libraries needed for ESQL/C programs running on the box, plus the message files, etc. If you install ClientSDK on the machine, you don't need to install I-Connect. On the other hand, no great harm would be done either. Beware of needing --nodeps on the install line -- you may not suffer, but you might. You'll no if RPM fails because some pre-requisites are missing. You might also have to use --force or something like that to get the second package to overwrite files shared with the first (eg in the GLS system). -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.95 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>

I just installed Informix Foundation 2000 9.2 on Caldera eServer 2.3, and I needed to use both --nodeps and --replacefiles in my rpm install command for Client SDK. The nodeps was puzzling, since rpm was claiming unfulfilled dependencies on files that I was pretty sure I had already nstalled. --replacefiles lets you overwrite files that were already installed when you installed the server (presumably you're installing Client SDK after the server), as said above. For best results, *do not* read the installation manual on paper. It is wrong. The one that Informix provided for the IIUG Web site is better, but still incomplete. It doesn't tell you, for instance, that the install script that checks your serial number has now been built into the rpm process. For those like me who need step-by-step guidance, I installed by creating an /opt/informix directory, setting INFORMIXDIR to it, mounting the cdrom, cd'ing to each subdirectory of the cdrom, and issuing: rpm -iv IDS.RPM rpm -iv --nodeps --replacefiles CLIENTSDK.RPM (or whatever the name of the clientsdk rpm is) There is usually no need to install iconnect, because it comes with Client SDK. Foundation 2000 comes with the web and text datablades -- I tried installing those with their rpms, and it seemed to work, but I have no idea about how to "register" them yet. If anyone has recommendations on changing Linux kernel parameters to work with Foundation 2000, I'd be glad to hear them.
