Number of rows i systables

We have developed an alternativ to DBaccess and during testing we discovered that the information in systables.numrow differs from the actual number of rows for some of our tables - not all tables. Is there another way of obtaining the number of rows in a table except count (*) ? TIA Jan Nilsson pro IT jan@proitkarlstad.se

You can look into the systabinfo table, field ti_nrows. Information in systables will be updated with UPDATE STATISTICS. -- ------------------------------------------------- With best regards, Yuri Dovgart SAP R/3, Informix technical consultant, Informix Certified Professional, Senior System Consultant System Architecture and High Availability Systems, 'Telecominvest' company Email y_dovgart@tci.ukrtel.net ICQ 39284285 > > TIA > > Jan Nilsson > pro IT > > jan@proitkarlstad.se > > >

In the sysmaster SMI database the sysptnhdr table is a window into the table's header information on disk. The row count there is accurate all the time. It is keyed by partnum to the sysmaster:systabnames table or the corresponding systables or sysfragments record in the database catalog. Art S. Kagel
