Re: Getting started

Alex,
I think, i can help u.
First set in your ~informix/etc/sqlhosts the name of the database that
should be accessed.
e.g.:
#$INFORMIXSERVER PROTOKOLL HOST SERVICE
#**************************************************************************
idefixlocal seipcpip idefix sqlexec
idefixremote sesoctcp idefix sqlexectcp
Second set in your /etc/services the sqlexec and sqlexectcp (for e.g.) with
no 1525 and 1526 as service-no. (you can choose every not used number....)
Third set up your $INFORMIXSERVER (must not, but it is better) to the value
idefixremote.
At last run the daemon sqlexecd whith $INFORMIXSERVER as parameter. You can
log all accesses with the parameter -l <logfile>.
This is it.
Bye

(PS: look in www.iiug.org for HOWTO's, there a lot of infos in the archive
