Hello Kevin, I had a similiar problem connecting my PC to my I-Online database running under HP-UX. I could connect databases on the HP-UX system together, so I knew that I-Star was functioning, but when I tried to connect I-Net on my PC client the winsock.dll came back with a "can't find data for service" error. The 'services' file on the client contained the following line : sqlexec 1525/tcp # Informix I-Net Daemon so, why was winsock reporting the difficulty ? the solution was a simple one (if not very, very frustrating !). I had the above line as the last entry in the 'services' file. There is a bug within the Informix I-Net PC software which requires a 'CR' at the end of a service entry for that entry to be valid. I pressed [return] a couple of times after the last entry and bingo ! the winsock problem disappeared !!! Hope this helps ! Paul ps. You don't need sqlexec (forget about sqlexecd that's the daemon) running on your PC-Client. pps. If you get two copies of this reply that's because I entered my mailing address incorrectly the first time. Ooops :-)
