hello, we are looking for a reporting tool. some of our requirements are: 1) Informix (later ORACLE) native or ODBC connect (AIX-Server) 2) C++, C API to the reporter (currently we use BC5.01; latter MSVC++x.y ) 3) features like: sub reports, pictures in the report, sorting, grouping, summing, exporting, ... (short all the things I can do with crystal reports) 4) platform: NT4.0 5) a reporting engine and a report designer at the time we are evaluating Crystal Reports 6.0 and I think, it fits our requirements. but if you have any other reporter-suggestions, please let me know. many thanks in advance Josef DI Ornetsmueller Josef phone: ++43-(0)662 4670 6436 Porsche Informatik Ges.m.b.H fax: ++43-(0)662 4670 6501 Handelszentrum 7 mailto: Ornetsmueller.Josef@porsche.co.at A-5101 Bergheim Austria

I don't know if it meets all your requirements, but you should consider whatever the latest product is from Platinum Tech (InfoReports is the name, I believe). There are others, try doing a search on ZDNet (www.zdnet.com) -- I'm sure one of their publications has done a review of reporting tools in the last 2 years...from there you can visit the manufacturers web sites to see latest versions and features. Good luck. Craig Brady Talisman Technologies Inc. PS..Crystal 6.0 is a nice product! Check out www.hummingbird.com they have a product that will allow you to create a graphical db model with the relationships built in and allow the user to access through the web or a desktop client server. Basically this allows the user to access the database by clicking on a graphical rep of the tables and selecting columns to query. The user does not have to know table relationships because you defined it. The report writing tool is incredible and the reports can be saved on a web page or a desktop as a button, just click the button and the report fires. It is maybe more than what you are looking for .... but it is very hot.
