Hello,
i've got some examples for Backups of DB and Logfiles from Informix.
Know i want read more about this. OK Full Archive is done by
'ontape -s -L 0', Logs will be saved with 'ontape -a'.
I already realized that there's a 'log_full.sh' but i
would prefer to read more about it.
Where can i find more about his ?
I've got some Informix Documentation, but it's not complete,
what would be the books name ?
(Administrators Guide tells about ontape, but 'log_full.sh ?)
TIA

Look at the documentation for the ALARMPROGRAM onconfig parameter. The
sample scripts log_full.sh and the others are examples of using the
ALARMPROGRAM feature of IDS to back up logical logs as they fill
without using onstat -c or the onbar equivalent. Another example,
more extensive, is in my package utils3_ak which contains a version of
log_full.sh that uses ontape -a to accomplish the same thing as the
delivered script and a C program ALARMPROGRAM target that does this
also, though in a much more thorough manner, and MUCH more including
emailing your DBAs (even to their beepers and cell phones) when the
server is having problems.
