There is no global makefile for the entire utils2_ak package, I've just never gotten around to making one. For the myschema sub-package, since it is a multi-source file application, I have included a makefile (actually several) which you will have to edit for use on HP (there are comments and commented suggested settings for HP in the makefiles based on user feedback, I do not use HP myself). The only know caviats, besides those noted in the myschema makefile, is that the default delivered HP C compiler is NOT ANSI C compliant and my code is. In addition, even if you have the development kit, the HP compiler is not ANSI compliant by default and you have to add a flag with option to turn the ANSI parser on (I think it is -aA but look in the makefile for myschema). There are two makefiles included: makefile and makefile.norcs. Use the former if you will check the source into RCS before compiling (I do) and the latter if you do not or will not be using RCS. As for the others, I just use: esql -o <app> <app>.ec where app is one of: dostats, dbcopy, dbdelete, listdb5, listdb7, or ul though you will likely have to add some of the HP specific options noted in the myschema makefile. I will seriously consider including a global makefile. BTW I do not remember if the ar utility on HP is System V or BSD. If it is BSD you will need to get either GNU ar or my ar2 utility also available from the IIUG Repository as the archive myschema.source.ar is in System V ar format and BSD's ar will refuse to recognize it. -- Art S.
