Performance dive over time

Hi - I've got an instance of IDS (7.31.UC4) running on Sun E4000/Solaris 2.6. Average 320 users, 18 Gig of space. Mostly OLTP w/some statistical reports run on occasion. Over time, the performance of Informix takes a dive. It seems to degrade a little every day until it becomes unacceptable. I bounce the engine (about once a month now) and everything gets better, until over time I have to do it again. Am I missing something obvious here? Any clue would be great help. TIA Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
Maybe your OS is doing a lot of memory swapping. Be sure to run onmode -
F to free unused memory segments grabbed by your database server.

This sort of behaviour can occur if there is a memory leak in your
application. Additionally, your application would be one that remains
connected to the database. Examine the memory used by the sessions, using
"onstat -g ses". See if it changes over time.
Also examine the memory used by the Unix process(es) that represents your
application.
If memory of either the process or its session to the database does change
drastically, going up by a factor of over 10, it could be your problem.
Talk to your developers about the CLOSE and FREE statements for cursors
and prepared statements. That will reduce the leak at the session-level.
