You may be creating too many shared memory segments for AIX to handle.
Try the following settings, they work for us on AIX 4.2.1:
SHMVIRTSIZE=262144 (or a multiple of this value)
SHMMADD-262144SHMTOTAL=0
These values will minimize the number of virtual memory segments
making each one the maximum size of 256Mb.

Subject: Shared memory base address illegal
I have a problem with Informix online 7.30 UC 8.1
I work on AIX 4.3.2.
My problem is, I have at end-of-day "shared memory base address illegal
using 0xd0000000, needs 0xffffffff", but I have setting
SHMBASE=0x30000000L
SHMADD=8192
SHMTOTAL=262144 (for 256 Mb maximum on AIX)
The onstat -g seg command return
16385 1381386241 30000000 132399104 2880 R 16155 7
16386 1381386242 40000000 8192000 724 V 1000 0
1236995 1381386243 50000000 2195456 632 M 260 8
409605 1381386244 60000000 8388608 724 V 1024 0
20486 1381386245 70000000 8388608 724 V 1024 0
258055 1381386246 80000000 8388608 724 V 609 415
...
to adresse c0000000 for a total size = 201506816.
And that is not my maximum!! Why informix generate a error for this
extention.
Anybody have a solution for me ??? Please help me !!
