I flagged (*.exe,*.frm) as read-only, with no :effect. Does anyone have any suggestions? I believe this used to be releated to the SHARE command in old DOS/Windows 3.1. You had to have it installed. At some time I think it was replaced by a Windows driver, VSHARE.386 perhaps. May be something can be set up in Windows NT for this as well. Perhaps an old share.exe file from a DOS machin even works if started in the Windows NT DOS box, although I would doubt that. On the other hand the DOS version was never intended as a multiuser product. Although we have used it for a short time this way, it is not reliable in any way. I doubt very much that you get any kind of locking or transaction processing with it. You should upgrade to something else as soon as possible. If you have 4GL programs your best bet would be to set up a small Unix server (SCO Unix on a cheap PC). Access to that via terminal emulators under Windows is very easy. Most other options would mean rewriting your programs completely in a new language. As Informix totaly abandoned all users that used this DOS product they ought to give you an SE engine and 4GL developer license for SCO for next to nothing. I don't know if they will though.
