HDR setup informix 12.1

Hi Gurus, I'm trying to setup a HDR (2 nodes) using informix 12.1 and RHEL 6. i am having problem on connecting the primary and secondary. This is what i have done so far.. 1. Server1 and Server2 installed, up and running, default settings for all. 2. setup ssh keys on both servers and able to connect to each other using ssh keys without issue. 3. setup /etc/hosts.equiv and .rhosts on both servers 1 and 2. 4. sqlhosts setup as per document for 12.1 5. setup /etc/services and added both tcp ports for instance1 and instance2 is there any working documet that you can shared?.

Did you restore server #2 using ontape -p or onbar -p from an archive taking from server #1? You cannot set up HDR between independent servers. The secondary has to be a clone restored from the primary using only a physical restore (no logical logs and no fast recovery). Here are the steps: 1. Archive primary using ontape -s -L 0 (or the equivalent onbar command). 2. Restore the archive onto the secondary using ontape -p (or onbar) 3. On the primary execute: onmode -d primary <name of the secondary> 4. On the secondary execute: onmode -d secondary <name of the primary> 5. voila. Alternatively you an use ifxclone to create an RSS secondary then promote it to an HDR secondary once it is online. That can save you the time needed to write the archvie and cart it over to the secondary. Art Art S. Thanks Art for your immediate response. After 3 days of research, the problem has been solved. I've created the files /etc/hosts.equiv and /home/informix/.rhosts, however, these settings will not work if the rsh package is not installed. I have have downloaded and installed it and it worked like a charm! Both primary and secondary server are now online.
