Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Not a technical problem thread. Rob Vorbroker asked whether IBM staff (Madison Pruet, Serge Rielau, Jonathan Leffler) would compile and repost the newsgroup's feature wishlist, and ideally reveal what's planned for IDS 9.5/9.6 as a marketing counter to Oracle and SQL Server. Pruet replied that he couldn't disclose future release contents since competitors read the group, but promised to condense the wishlist and repost it that week for confirmation. The rest is banter between Pruet and Oracle's Mark Townsend; no list or further outcome appears in the thread.

So Madison, Serge or Jonathan;
Are you going to compile a list of the great ideas and
publish said back to this newsgroup list. Fantasy
would be to have someone identify what will be in IDS
v9.5 or v9.6. Certainly you could do that and scare
the heck out of Orrible and sqealserver types (maybe
even inspire the db2 group you work with to aim
higher).
Maybe it's a dream but that information makes a lot
more sense to promote to the IIUG than white paper
rhetoric. IMHO.

Rob,
I wish that we could list the things that we are putting in 9.5 and 9.6,
but - well.... Mark Townsend would be seeing it as well. ;-)
We will condense the list sometime this week and repost, just to confirm
that we've understood correctly.

Oh, I'm sure _Oracle_ has got all that stuff in it already.
It's on the slides...

I saw your point, but completely missed marks. Can someone translate?
