>> REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ via First! -- Today, Oracle >>Corp. announced a record-breaking TPC-C open systems benchmark, 9414 tpmC, >>surpassing the existing performance record, also held by the Oracle7 database. >> >> >>Oracle7's new record is more than two times faster than Sybase's best ever >>performance and nearly three times faster than Informix's best result. >> >>Remarkably, Oracle delivered twice the performance of Sybase's upcoming System >>11, but Oracle used only half the number of processors used by Sybase. >> It's ironic that the most-heated, biggest discussion in comp.databases.ingres should be started by a benchmark report on a non-Ingres database, comparing it (accurately or not) to other non-Ingres databases. What is going on here? Vicarious speed thrills? This isn't even "my DBMS is faster than your DBMS". It's "His DBMS is faster than that other DBMS over there!". So what if it is? I suppose I'll have to visit the TPC Web site, and see if CA has done any benchmarks recently...
