Cool! The sender talking using THEIR terminology and the receiver took it in the spirit in which it was intended. If I says "Merry Christmas" and somebody replies "Happy Hanukah" I won't get all pissy. We each view things in different ways and shouldn't get annoyed when somebody else has different beliefs. You call it what you want....I call it what I want.
If I say "Merry Christmas", all Japanese say "Merry Chirstmas". I never head "Happy Hanukah". -- Tsutomu Ogiwara from Tokyo Japan. >From: david@smooth1.co.uk >To: informix-list@iiug.org >Subject: Re: Merry Christmas & Happy new year >Date: 25 Dec 2005 20:38:36 -0800 > > >Cool! For information GOOGLE: 'story+of+chanukah'. As to the folk wishing each other what they themselves will be or are celebrating, let me just relate that personally I try to wish my friends, acquaintences, and coworkers according to their own beliefs as I find the most warm and fuzzy feelings of my own when a Christian, Muslim, or Hindu friend wishes me a 'Happy Chanukah'. I do reserve a 'have a Happy Holiday' when I can't know what greeting is appropriate so as to minimize any offence given. So to each of you as is appropriate: Happy Chanukah! Merry Christmas! Art S.
