restore database to another disk?

Anyone can suggest the best way to backup the informix 5.x database and restore to the another disk (difference size)?

With Informix it isn't possible to restore a backup in a different system structure (as can be a different device). Only with IDS 9.40+ you can rename 1 or more chunks during a restore. I think you should use dbexport/dbimport to transport datas between 2 instances. Hope it helps, Francesco

Have you used symbolic links to point to the actual bits of disk space? If so, just point them to the new bits and so long as they are at least as large as the old ones all will be well.
