:How I can change Recovery Mode to Quiescent mode or
:free Logocal logs in this mode ???
A few other have suggested waiting for recovery to complete, etc. However,
although you have provided precious little info, it does sound like you suspect
problems with your logs being full. If indeed the logs are full and backed up,
and the system seems hung in Recovery, you may well be hosed.
However, depending on the version you are running (a detail you failed to
mention), you may not be in an uncorrectable state.
I have found in the past that when the system is brought up and fast recovery
kicks in, once the system hits the point where it wants to do a checkpoint, you
are blocked from performing a log backup. If you didn't complete one before the
system went down, the full logs would block the checkpoint. So you have a
catch-22: full logs block checkpoint, checkpoint blocks log backup. What to do?
I have found that if you act quickly enough, there is a small window of
opportunity between the point when you bring the system up and when the
checkpoint occurs during which a log backup is possible. The way to accomplish
this it to put both the oninit and ontape commands on the same command line, so
the backup starts as soon as oninit returns control to the command line (the few
seconds it takes to type in the ontape command could be too much to beat the
system to the checkpoint). Example:
oninit; ontape -l
Note: if an onstat -l shows that all the logs are *already* backed up, then this
won't help. If patience does not result in your system eventually coming up,
then you will need to call Informix tech support for assistance.
Hope this helps,
Dave
