Duplicating Database

I have a Informix database on a ScoUnix server, and I want to create a dublicate database on a Windows98 pc for testing. How can I accomplish this in a way that the original database is kept online? I'm a newbie to informix and unix. All information is welcome. Thanx, Jos Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.

You can use dbexport to export your database to a set of unload files and
a schema (actually or a tape but that will not transfer to NT well). Then
transfer the files and directory structure of the unload to NT and run
dbimport there. Dbexport will want to lock the database to insure data
integrity within the unload. If you cannot get users of the system for the
time it takes to perform the unload you can get my dbexport/dbimport
replacement utility myexport (which also requires that you get my dbschema
replacement myschema and Jonathan Leffler's dbaccess replacement utility
sqlcmd). You can get all of the needed components by dowloading the
sqlcmd, utils2_ak, and myexport packages from the IIUG Software Repository.
The output of myexport is compatible with dbimport so you will not need
anything on the NT side besides dbimport.
Note that you may need to edit the schema file to change dbspace names from
those used on the UNIX server to the ones you are using on the NT server if
they are not the same or if you want to reorganize where things live.
