Re: Help - Informix Installation !
Posted in 2000
Hello, Informix is the only company that I know that follows procedures for installing products. With informix you always install client tools first ... or older versions of informix software first then you move to the latest. For your installation, you should install the development, runtime, then server in that order if they are older then your server version (which I think it may). If your client tools (SQL) are newer then your server (IDS) install them last! I don't remember exactly but I don't think you need the runtime if you have the development but I am not sure ... maybe someone can clarify this. You can install it however... The files you will need to configure ... is your server. I don't know how you will be running this ... so you should consult with the admin guide for help on this. , the files As the basicsyou most definately need to configure are sqlhosts and onconfig. Onconfig can be configured through onmonitor ... if you prefer. Your sqlhosts should be done through an editor. There are examples in the admin guide. Here is the basic guide ... <dbservername> <connectiontype> <host> <servicenameornumber> HTH, Lloyd AJ Wilson.
