You dont need to reboot after a failed initialization attempt. There can be
many reasons why your shared memory is not initialized. Are you using the
onconfig.std or have you changes some parameters in ONCONFIG? What is your
hardware configuration (memory, disk, CPU, etc)? If you post your ONCONFIG
file and your message log file here, somebody may be able to help you.

Subject: IDS initialization problem
Hi All,
When I try to initialize a shared memory for Informix Dynamic Server
(running on RedHat Linux rel.5.2, kernel 2.0.39), ONMONITOR write:
Initializing, please wait....
Press any key...
From online.log file I see, that "dataskip is now OFF" and "server now
in quescent mode". From 'ps aux' I see that oninit -isy (10 instanses)
is running. But when I make "press any key", ONMONITOR returns me to the
main menu and in the bottom of the screen it writes "Shared memory is
not initalized". Of course, I can't repeat the initialization of
instance after that (need rebooting).
What is my mistake? Thank you very much,
Ruslan Satlykov.
