Neil are you sure Solaris will overwrite on raw devices? I was running 7.3 for 5 years on Solaris 7 with raw and currently have two servers running 9.1 with Solaris 9 and I don't have any offsets. I have rebooted many times and never had any issues. Gary Quiring

In my case, I have 4096 pages (or 8192k) for the 1st chunk and 4096k for the others. Shouldn't that be enough? But, I forgot to mention one thing, the database is on a RAID-5 arranged DPT disk array, if that should be taken into account.
