Re: Update Stats after Create Index?
Posted in 2009
Hi Mark, Yes my question was really do I need to run update stats so that the optimizer will recognize the indices. So you are saying I don't need to do that. Wow great! That saves me another few hours of processing. Yes I understand that if the data changes after the indexes are built then I do need to run update statistics. In this scenario, periodically, I will actually be rebuilding drop/create the table and loading in historical data. --Dave On Fri, Oct 2, 2009 at 11:40 AM, Mark Jamison <majp51@yahoo.com> wrote: > Hi Dave, > > The answer is really predicated on what you mean by your question. > > If what you are asking is: > > "Do I still have to run update stats in order for my indices to be > recognized by the optimizer" > > Then the answer is no.
