I can't remember which kind soul did it, it might have been ruchi, but thanks anyway. The answer was to use the new facilities in the OPTION statement OPTION DISPLAY (attributes) INSERT (attributes) This now gives developers the option of having fields underlined, reversed, etc either all at once on entry to the statement or, using the old way, it now does it on entry to the field. One thing to watch for the DISPLAY option seems to work for anything that displays including menu statements (At least in our version). So you have to switch it off when you don't want it.
