Did you run "update statistics" in the recommended way? How about platform, configuration files, etc? -- --------------------------------------------------------- Steven Hauser email: hause011@tc.umn.edu URL: http://www.tc.umn.edu/~hause011 ---------------------------------------------------------

I have tested both.
The recommended way in Informix-SQL sintax guide and also have used a
"macro-report" made by Obnoxio that generates different updates.
UPDATE STATISTICS LOW DROP DISTRIBUTIONS;
UPDATE STATISTICS MEDIUM;
UPDATE STATISTICS LOW FOR TABLE dma(alm);
UPDATE STATISTICS LOW FOR TABLE dma(art);
UPDATE STATISTICS LOW FOR TABLE dma(doc);
UPDATE STATISTICS LOW FOR TABLE dma(fec);
UPDATE STATISTICS LOW FOR TABLE dma(lin);
UPDATE STATISTICS LOW FOR TABLE dma(serie);
UPDATE STATISTICS HIGH FOR TABLE dma(alm);
UPDATE STATISTICS HIGH FOR TABLE dma(art);
UPDATE STATISTICS HIGH FOR TABLE dma(fec);
UPDATE STATISTICS HIGH FOR TABLE dma(tma);

Is it relevant?
The machine is the same in both cases. SCO OpenServer 5.0.5, 64 Mb
The CPU performs like a 459Mhz Intel Pentium II
