OnLine and RedHat9

One of my customers is insistent that OnLine cannot be made to run on RedHat 9. I seem to remember that we got it running, but I don't have a RedHat 9 server to hand and can't be arsed to set one up. The message he's had from Ttech Support is reproduced below. Can anyone confirm or refute it? thanks Neil The answer from Informix Support was: After some more research, it would seem the Redhat Linux 9 is not compatible with the following Informix products with versions earlier than IDS9.40.UC2, IDS7.31.UD7, IDS9.30.UC6, SE7.25.UC1 due to the incompatibility of the glibc versions of Redhat Linux 9 and previous Informix versions. This is likely the reason why you are receiving this error message and you may either downgrade you version of Redhat Linux, or upgrade your informix versions to one of the earlier mentioned ones. I understand your concern however this incompatibility issue is due to the difference in the glibc versions of Redhat Linux and the earlier versions of Informix, glibc 2.3.x on Redhat Lnux 9 and glibc 2.2.2 used to compile the version of Informix you have. I am pleased to inform you that there is a planned release of Online 5.20 ported for RedHat Linux 9. This is Online 5.20.UC3 due to be released on 21 June 2004.

We had to provide a .c to bridge the gap between glibc and if we didn't link statically, there was issues with the order in which our CSDK programs loaded the libraries which often caused crashes. I just tried running isql and it crashed out on me, but I don't remember that happening before. Is there any particular reason you need to use RH9 rather than, say, RH8? SE is fine - right upto the point you want to use it then it has a fundamental problem - it doesn't work, it should be fixed Q2 Cheers Neil Truby wrote: > > One of my customers is insistent that OnLine cannot be made to run on RedHat > 9.
