Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Francois La Haye asked for opinions on the onperf utility. Art S. Kagel said it tracked too few variables and crashed too often. smooth1 liked its query tree view of threads but found onperf very slow. Thomas Parsli found it nice with fewer crashes; Pankaj preferred oncockpit, but another poster could not find oncockpit in Informix 7.30. No consensus.

Can't remember if it is that or oncockpit which has the query tree
analsyer. That is the only cool thing. You can watch a query in
real time, see the threads which are being used for that session,
see how they pass the data between threads and how many rows
each thread has processed e..g
GROUP
|
|
SORT
|
|
JOIN
/\\
/ \\
/ \\
/ \\
SCAN SCAN
Never could work out
a) How to get the links between threads. You can get threads for
a session but how to work out the tree
b) You can get reads/writes per thread but number of rows
processed?
David.
Otherwise onperf is VERY,VERY slow.

Combined with Glance Plus, a window to play with onstat and a fewer crashes
it's quite nice;)

Hi Francois ,
I have used it but I preferred oncockpit. It is much better. I would suggest
using this rather that onperf.
Cheers
Pankaj
