Yes, the -u is required to rollback transactions at shutdown time since
version 6. Which ever you use, you will still have to rollback those
transactions, whether at shutdown time or at startup time.
If a -uy or -kuy appears to freeze, then try just a -ky and let fast
recovery rollback the transactions.
