Although I've never done exactly what you are trying to do, I think you
are on the right lines. As you say, onunload will not talk to stdout,
but needs a file. So why not create a named pipe, and stick an rsh at
the other end. Then you can do exactly the same in reverse on the other
machine using onload. I would be careful about the order in which you
start commands. I do not trust the buffering or hand shaking
capabilities of named pipes on all (well any really :) platforms.
